Creating a skincare routine that also serves as a meditation practice can be an excellent way to enhance your self-care experience while promoting mindfulness and relaxation. Here's a detailed plan you can implement with your daily skin care routine.
1. Set the Intention: Before beginning, set an intention to nourish your skin and calm your mind. Light a candle and watch the flame for a minute. Relax your shoulders. Set up all the items you will need to complete your skincare routine.
2. Be Present: While cleansing your skin, focus on the texture and sensation of the product. Feel the warmth of your hands and the water on your face. This is an opportunity to let go of daily stress.
Application Recommendation: A double cleansing routine can provide numerous benefits. Begin with an Oil Cleanser then follow-up with a cleanser for your skin type.
Oil Cleanser: To remove make-up and surface debris from the skin after a long day of exposure. Apply the oil cleanser to dry skin and massage the face for 2-3 minutes. Add small amounts of warm water until the consistency turns milky. Pat the skin without rubbing to retain moisture.
Facial Cleanser for Eczema Prone Skin: For Dry and Mature Skin Types. Provides clean skin without stripping the acid mantle.
Purifying Cleanser: For Combination to Oily Skin Types. A gentle, foaming cleanser formulated to provide deep-pore cleansing
Clean, non-irritated skin receives serums and moisturizers at night while the skin and body are in rest and repair overnight.
3. Affirmations: As you apply each product, repeat positive affirmations such as "I am caring for my body," "I am worthy of self-love," or "My skin is healthy and radiant."
4. Slow Movements: Apply serums and moisturizers slowly, gently massaging the skin. Visualize each product infusing your skin with nourishment.
Serums generally contain very active ingredients that nourish the skin. A little goes a long way! I find that many people overuse serums in their daily skincare routines. Be mindful about how much product you are using. More product does not necessarily mean the product will perform better on your skin.
Application Recommendation:
For serum with a dropper, drop no more than 4-5 drops in the palm of one hand.
Transfer an even amount of serum to the palm of the other hand
Press equal amounts into the skin starting with the forehead then moving down the side of the face, middle, chin ending down the neck
